User registration fixed

Postby Hamwise » Wed Nov 11, 2009 11:16 pm

To my own astonishment, I have fixed the user registration process. Anyone can now register as normal.

I have removed the troublesome Anti-Bot question. Initially, I assumed, indeed I think we all assumed, that the captcha was to blame. It wasn't. The Anti-Bot question simply does not render on our forum. Perhaps this is due to our theme, or perhaps we lack a certain module required for this feature, I don't know.

In response to the need for spam protection, I have implemented a more potent visual captcha than the one before. With more GD background noise on both the x- and y-axis, as well as a new wave distortion, even human beings will have trouble deciphering it. It is manageable, however - you just need to stare at it for a few seconds.

I confirmed this latest fix by registering a test user with the enhanced captcha, which has now been deleted.

Nice work. That's much better than what we had before.
Sky News : 'British Spy Found Murdered Near MI6 HQ'. This is bullshit, according to my sat nav that postcode doesn't even exist.

The latest incrementation of phpBB3 apparently fixed the captcha problems, I'll update it sometime soonish.

I never really left man. I was just biding my time until you had reached exactly 265 posts, so that your "welcome back" post directed to me would be precisely your 266th and thus exactly double the number attained by myself before I'd left. Although posting this explanation of my ruthless and enigmatic plans has subsequently rendered them null and void.

What? Shut up.

Shit, you're right.

Will you be my god?

How many Adams Shaikhs does it take to change a lightbulb?

Irrelevant. There are only 2, and they're both sucking my dick.
