Facility: Hamachi network

Postby smr » Sun Jul 25, 2010 10:33 pm

Hamachi is a free gateway drug from LogMeIn, it's free for non-commercial use and the BM clan is non commercial.

I've set up a vpn on hamachi called bantermarket, just join it and you should be able to immediately connect to each other. It's a clever system. I think it might also be a pretty secure channel too. There's a password that you need that I'll send out by PM.

Sweet, do we want managed or unmanaged mode Hamachi? I reckon it's unmanaged, after all it seems to prescribe to the 'set up in seconds' promise you've mentioned, so I'm downloading that now - let me know if I need managed mode instead.

It seems very secure, with it's own RSA key system and P2P encryption. It also offers the chance to block new network members by default - is this something we want, to ensure that outsiders can't and won't interfere with our network? Or will it just prove annoying?

Well, Hamachi may prove a problem. I was having problems connecting to RA2 games last night so I ended up uninstalling it, I'm not sure what would have caused that but the problem went away when I uninstalled the program and restarted my computer.

There should be an unmanaged network already on their books called bantermarket, you'd just join that.

That's funny. I'm using Windows 7 x64, and connecting to RA2 works for me. Played about a minute of a game online with a random person, and Hamachi Unmanaged is installed. It could just be the XWIS network.

Maybe you had Hamachi running in the background when you tried running RA2. I made sure it wasn't. If you're sure it wasn't, maybe try the official XWIS re-distributable build:
